Frankly My Dear...

...let's have Goblin Goo instead!

Here is the other part of snack-time for my daughter's Halloween party that I made.  If you missed it, you can find the drinks HERE.

I wanted to find a treat that boys and girls would like equally.  I didn't want it to be too scary or too generic.  When I saw THIS idea, I knew it was what I wanted to do!

I doubled the ingredients below so that there would be enough for the whole class and teachers.

INGREDIENTS

• GREEN food coloring
• 3 tablespoons butter or margarine
• 1 package (10 oz., about 40) regular marshmallows
• — OR —
• 4 cups miniature marshmallows
• 6 cups Kellogg's® Rice Krispies® cereal
• DIRECTIONS
• 1. In large saucepan melt butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. ADD GREEN FOOD COLORING NOW.  Remove from heat. 
• 2. Add KELLOGG'S RICE KRISPIES cereal. Stir until well coated.
• 3. Using buttered spatula or wax paper evenly press mixture into 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan coated with cooking spray. Cool. Cut into 2-inch squares. Best if served the same day.
• Note
• -For best results, use fresh marshmallows.
• -1 jar (7 oz.) marshmallow crème can be substituted for marshmallows.
• -Diet, reduced calorie or tub margarine is not recommended.
• -Store no more than two days at room temperature in airtight container. 
• -To freeze, place in layers separated by wax paper in airtight container. Freeze for up to 6 weeks. Let stand at room temperature for 15 minutes before serving.

I also bought the 3x4 clear treat bags, edible eyeballs and printed/cut out the "frankly" tags from the pin linked in the first paragraph of this blog post.

I made the rice krispy treats.  They were a lovely shade of green, everything was going so well.

UNTIL....

I tried to put them in the little bags.  Yeah, the woman that did this the first time (see link above) is my new hero!  I could NOT get them to fit into their 3x4 baggies...I even had 4x6 baggies that I tried to make work and could not do so!  For reference, here is HER picture again!

Just for laughs I put one in my usual go-to snack ziplock bag and stapled the treat tag to it but somehow it just didn't have the same effect!  hahahaha  ;-)

So I decided that the kids would just have goblin goo (green rice krispy treats unpackaged) instead.

They didn't seem to mind!

So I encourage other crafty momma's...when trying this adorable Frankenstein treat...take the time to cut out a 2x2 square of wax paper to use as your cutting guide...which I did NOT do and might have been my downfall.  Also know that it's not a disaster if you can't get them in the baggies...you can always serve goblin goo b/c green treats are always spooky and fun!

...and the kids will LOVE to show you their tongues afterwards!

Spooky Juice!

I ran across THIS pin and thought, "how hard can it be?"  The answer, not hard at all...just time consuming when you do it for a class of 16.  Here are the supplies you will need.

juice boxes

white duct tape

 (I used one whole roll and covered 17 boxes)

wiggly eyes

glue dots

scissors

The first thing I did was take off the straw so I could wrap the tape around the juice.  Then,  I tore off a piece of duct tape, tore it in half and wrapped both pieces around the box.  I used my glue dots to glue two wiggly eyes on the box.  After they were on, I finished off the box with more tape.  When the box was "mummified" I taped the straw back on to the back of the box.

I think they turned out pretty stinkin' cute and will look adorable with the snack I am making tonight to go with them for tomorrow's party!  Happy Halloween!!!!
